Checkup and Cleaning
Routine checkups and cleanings are key to building lifelong healthy habits. At Richmond Centre Dental Clinic, we recommend bringing your child in every 4 to 6 months for a gentle, thorough examination. During each visit, we assess the development of their teeth, gums, and bite, clean and polish their teeth, apply fluoride for added protection, and may take digital x-rays if needed. We also take time to guide both you and your child on proper brushing, flossing, and nutritional tips to maintain a healthy smile between visits.
Dental Fillings
When cavities form, early treatment is essential. We treat small cavities using tooth-colored composite fillings for a natural look, while larger cavities on molars may be best addressed with stainless steel crowns for added durability, especially for primary teeth that play a big role in alignment. Our goal is to restore the function and appearance of your child’s teeth while minimizing discomfort and preventing future issues.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a safe, simple way to protect your child’s molars from decay. Applied to the deep grooves of the back teeth, often around ages 6 and 12, sealants act as a barrier against plaque and food particles. The treatment is fast, non-invasive, and one of the most effective ways to prevent cavities during the cavity-prone years of childhood.
Space Maintainer
If your child loses a baby tooth early due to decay or trauma, we may recommend a space maintainer. This small appliance helps preserve the space for the adult tooth to come in properly. Without it, nearby teeth can shift and create alignment issues later. Space maintainers are a simple but important step to ensure proper tooth development and avoid the need for more complex orthodontic care in the future.
Sports Guards
If your child plays sports, especially contact sports, a custom-fitted sports guard is an excellent investment in their oral safety. Our pediatric mouth guards are designed for comfort, durability, and performance, and they come in fun colors too! They help protect your child’s teeth, lips, and gums from impact while giving you peace of mind.
Dental Sedation
We understand that dental visits can be intimidating for children. That’s why we offer safe, gentle sedation options to help ease dental anxiety and make procedures more comfortable. Whether your child needs a filling or a more involved treatment, our experienced team will discuss the best sedation method based on their needs and health history to ensure a calm and positive dental experience.
